Southern Motorcycle Advanced Rider Training (SMART) was formed in 1996 with the principle idea of teaching advanced motorcycling skills to motorcyclists.
In 2001 we became affiliated to RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders (RoADAR). To show our commitment we renamed ourselves RoSPA SMART.  In 2019 RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders advised that they were embarking on a new branding strategy.  Thus the charity has reverted back to SMART – Southern Motorcycle Advanced Rider Training while our affiliated identification remains RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders – Southern Riders.  As such we represent RoSPA for London (South), Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

Along with all RoSPA/RoADAR affiliated clubs we are independent and our associate membership is quite separate to RoSPA/RoADAR’s, although many of our members also maintain membership with RoSPA/RoADAR.

We help anyone over the age of 18 with a Full A or A2 licence who has an interest in safer motorcycling to obtain and keep up new skills so they are better able to ride safely and with more confidence.  This is not to say that you don’t already ride safely.  It simply means we are hoping to help you achieve a higher standard of riding and if you want you can take the RoSPA advanced riding test which is currently the UK’s highest civilian test standard.
