Hello one and all…it is time for the April 2019 EOM announcement. This month John Cowburn is leading us on a merry tour of Hampshire and Surrey…
All welcome, indeed encouraged (newbies especially, but have you had an assessment ride ?).
Arriving 0915 onwards if you want a breakfast there, briefing and rolling at 10:00.
Leaving at 10:00 sharp Sunday 28 April. from :–
Billys on the Road cafe, Five Oaks, Billinghurst. RH14 9AE.
https://www.billysontheroad.co.uk/contact/
1st leg will be 71miles appx to Alton, Hants (2hrs an’ a bit), where we will have lunch at the Bikers Cafe next to the Bluebell Line.
Backmarker volunteer for this leg, please.
(Talking of bluebells, take a moment to be impressed by the carpets of flowers in the woods, plenty of back roads!)
There are fuel stops in Alton, if required, go get it and RV back at the cafe before we leave. Lunch break 45 mins.
2nd Leg, return to Billy’s, appx same mileage – a different route, to be there about 3.30pm, (Billys closes at 4pm)
More back roads but a short DC and a long tunnel
Backmarker volunteer for this leg, please.
Little chance of the overnight temperature dropping below 3*C so likely no need for thermals as the weather forecast is promising.
So see you there!
Notes:
Weather: As with all Group Ride Outs, please note that if the overnight temperature is forecast to be below 3 degrees C, the ride out will be cancelled automatically. There will not normally be a second notification if this is the case.
BackMarker System: Please make sure you are fully conversant with the rules of the “BACKMARKER SYSTEM“. Following these correctly is vital to the smooth running of the day & reduces the risk of losing someone, or everyone. Details of the BM system are on our RoSPASMART website. If you’re unsure on the day, ask one of the attending Instructors. They will be more than happy to clarify any issues you have.
Hi-Viz: If you wear hi-viz, please ensure it is not Orange as this is reserved for the ‘backmarker’ during our ride-outs. We appreciate you may normally wear an orange hi viz whilst riding. However, feedback identified that some found it confusing when in the middle of the group to see two or more riders with the orange hi viz. So, in an effort to avoid confusion and markers leaving their post prematurely only the back-marker to wear orange. Thank you
Please be fully fuelled and ready to go prior to the start of the day.
Have a safe enjoyable day
